The Florida waters promise not only the excitement of a good catch such as lovely bonefish and tarpons but also the promise of excitement in fishing in a tropical paradise such as Florida.

Fishing in the sea is a wonderful and extremely fascinating hobby and activity. And the Florida fishing scene offers this, along with other fun, family activities the region offers.

Here are a few tips for when you do intend to go fishing in the sea:

How to Locate Fish

There are several ways to know where you can locate the fish in when you do go fishing in the sea. Most of it rely on the signs. A good sea fisher and angler knows the most basic of signs on where to locate fish in the sea or the deep sea.

The first sign is to locate the birds. Birds who feed on fish usually know where the fish are located long before the average fisher or angler finds them out. The science of evolution has equipped these birds with senses perfect for locating their meals. While we do not have this ability to locate the fish, we can hone the ability of these birds to our advantage, that is in locating the fish we intend to catch. Seagulls for example would be flying overhead where there is small bait. Seagulls feed on these small bait. Small fishes are bait and food for the larger game fish. Seagulls and and small bait-type fish increases the probability of larger game-type fish below the surface of the water. Be on a look-out for birds circling overhead and feeding on small bait-type fish.

Know what to look for and where. Oftentimes, game-type fish are located in several special areas. Snooks like to be in ledges, posts and rocks. The Florida waters are famous for Bonefish and Tarpons. Bonefish, for example can be found shallow sands and mud flats. If you intend to look for bonefish, you must look in those areas. IN order to have the better chance at success when you do go out on that fishing trip, you must first know what fish you intend to catch in the area you intend to go to, and what are the fish in that area. That way you have better knowledge on knowing what to look for, and where.

Be Prepared

It would be a very frustrating day for the fisher and angler if and when you catch a big game fish only to have to let it go because you do not have the necessary permit to catch that game fish. When you do catch a Tarpon, it is mostly catch and release. Tarpons, which can be found in the Florida Keys, need a permit to be able to catch, kill and keep them. It is better to come prepared to fishing sites than to be frustrated in the end.

Have your equipment ready. This includes the necessary baits, hooks and rods and poles. And, of course, do not forget your life jacket.
